Gardens
The themed gardens are the main focus of the site. They have been evolving for more than 20 years, and still are. Wherever possible art and sculpture have been incorporated to enhance the setting and showcase the creative abilities of people attending TWIGS. Here is a map of the site. We also have a new map of the gardens now available.
In 2019 we were delighted to be awarded a Level 5 Outstanding award from Britain in Bloom.
The gardens were described in an article for Wiltshire Life in 2010 by Anna Stowe which you can read here.
In Summer 2018 this aerial view of TWIGS was shot.
The plant sales and plant production areas form part of the garden site and visitors can see first hand how we produce quality plants following organic principles. We have been putting together an extensive collection of trees, shrubs and perennials over the years, so much so that we could perhaps now be regarded as ‘Swindon’s Botanic Gardens’!
In addition to the themed gardens, our main site is made up of the following areas:
- Patio
- Heated glasshouse
- Wild Haven
- Carpentry workshop
- Port-a-cabin office
- Green wood working area
- Composting area
- Three large poly tunnels
- Plant sales section
- Chicken coup
- Ornamental fish pond
- Outdoor fitness trail
- Individual garden plots
- The Winter Garden
- Cut flower beds
- Summerhouse
Twigs Community Gardens also feature on the Great British Gardens and NGS websites.
